While growing up in my small world, I always looked upon my mother as a superwoman, someone who had solutions to all the problems. The very first person to have a deep impact on us is our mother after all – similarly my mom, has been my teacher, guide, friend as well as my first person to help me experience the healing power of Ayurveda.
Whenever me or my siblings were suffering from indigestion, bloating or any other stomach issues, my mother used to give some herbs to chew for a magical relief.
I particularly remember one instance very well. I was young about 8-9 years old, I had severe cramps and diarrhea, was extremely pale and uncomfortable and I couldn’t barely sleep the whole night due to the extreme pain. My mom, being the expert in culinary spices, made me drink black tea made with lemon juice that helped ease my pain and relieve my symptoms.
A simple remedy like such, left such a powerful impact on me. I felt like there was magic in her hands. It was the first time I realized and questioned myself.
“How wonderful would that be if I impacted someone’s life?”
This question gave birth to my journey of impacting other people’s lives. This childhood dream was further ignited when my mother would take me to Vaidya, an Ayurvedic doctor, who would be able to understand the exact mechanisms of your body just by checking your pulse and heal with minimal herbs.
I was thus introduced to Ayurveda, which is not only my profession by my greatest passion in life. I spent five and a half years immersed in the study of Ayurveda to graduate as a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery and that is when my dream started and I set up a practice in India.
Life took a new turn then, and I decided to move to the USA to join my husband. At that moment, I felt like a thirsty bird flying from one place to another to fulfill her thirst for impacting lives. I had no clue how I was going to practice in a new place and new environment.
My younger son was born premature, he was healthy but when he was attacked by RSV virus which is just a common cold virus, since he was a premature, the virus made his condition worse. It affected his lungs and it made things more complicated.
…. He was on oxygen support at one point.
……He was just a tiny 6-month-old baby.
……He used to stay sick often, taking steroids on and off with being hospitalized frequently.
Those days I lived my worst nightmare of my life. Me and my husband could not sleep peacefully for almost three years. Life was tough at that moment, I used to wake up in the middle of the night just to see if he was breathing fine. I was beyond worried for my tiny little baby, being a mother, I had to help him with all I can.
We tried all mainstream treatments, but none helped him. several time I had thoughts of using Ayurvedic herbs, but I felt utterly miserable when doctors scared the hell out of me by saying:
“What if herbs react and give side effects”. I was not only a Vaidya from India at this moment I was also a mother in this new country with no moral or emotional support.
Two years passed by, and my child was still suffering just to breathe normal, we were tired…. exhausted.
…. Seeing my child suffer was more painful than anything else I had ever been through.
I spent hours looking for herbs around me and got a few herbs from other states and few shipped from my own country. I introduced him to ayurvedic herbs slowly and one after another. We began to see fewer attacks and fewer hospitalizations and reduced steroids doses in a few months.
I could finally breathe a sigh of relief…. something was finally working…after a long time, after tons of medications, he was finally at ease. I finally had some peace of mind knowing that my baby was safe and recovering well. It took me two years to completely get rid of his nebulizer and steroids.
Today, I proudly declare my son perfectly fine with no nebulizers or inhalers which the doctor said that he is never going to get rid of them.
It was the time that made me feel I truly impacted my son’s life, just like my mother used to have on me.

It brought me finally to such a place where I can impact others’ lives now, which I always dreamed of and go through such an awesome feeling.
My son’s whole experience was actually a way for me to start my professional career again in a new land that is the USA. So, I decided to help everyone with similar issues. I have decided to live such a moment a thousand times by helping other kids and adults going through a similar situation.
I believe that you do not need to endure such pain that my son & I experienced. You are here not to live with nightmares, but to cherish your life.
From a stage of having no solution for my son to healing him completely with the Ayurveda approach made me serve more and more with a similar background.
